The Ultimate Compact Wave Sail for Jumping and Spinning


The QU4D is our compact 4-batten wave sail, especially well-suited for jumping and "spinning" wave sailing with extra-fast rotations. Features the exclusive Wave Vision window that is clear all the way to the mast. The experience of wave riding with virtually no visual restrictions. This feature lets you avoid looking through a "window," giving you a full visual range and making jibes and other maneuvers more effortless as you carve and turn through the waves.


Dual Clew Positions for Maximum Versatility


Incorporating a low clew option to improve down-the-line wave sailing, this allows the sail to mimic the KS3 boom angle, which allows you to get up and under the lip better than the high clew position. The upper clew position is better suited to extreme jumping and onshore sailing. Sailors who liked the QU4D but felt the KS3 was better down the line are now totally satisfied with QU4D in all conditions.


Built for Aerial Performance


It is a great choice for those who enjoy jumping as much as wave riding. This sail flies through the air with stunning stability and accuracy. The shorter luff lengths and boom lengths encourage fast rotations, too.

Super-Light Yet Super-Strong Construction


The QU4D features our super-light 2- and 4-mil laminates, combined with our new, very clear SlamLam® reinforced window, making this a super-strong wave sail that will take a pounding while remaining very light.


Optimized for Reduced Rig Weight


Designed to rig on short masts, the overall rig weight is reduced further. You will only need a 400 to rig the 6.0m through 5.2m, a 370 to rig the 5.0 m through 4.3 m, and a 340 for the smallest sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I always rig to the exact printed luff and boom measurements?

Use the printed numbers as initial references. Actual settings can vary because extension scales, boom-head position, mast generation and personal preference are not identical. Mark the settings that produce the best result on your own mast and extension.

How tight should battens be?

Battens should be tight enough to support the intended profile and remove wrinkles caused by insufficient tension. They should not be tightened until they visibly bow while the sail is unloaded. Under-tension produces creases and an unstable draft; excessive tension stresses pockets and end fittings.

How should I choose between clew eyelets?

Choose the eyelet that produces a comfortable boom height, sail rake and sheeting angle. The lower eyelet often softens the leech and lowers the boom; the upper eyelet may feel more direct. On the Qu4d sail, the upper clew grommet is well known for improving jumping performance, especially for high-end rotational maneuvers such as double forwards.
