    The SuperFreak Maui Edition is the hybrid bump and jump wave sail that has the advantages of a soft Super Freak, and the solid feel of a conventional x-ply sail. A light sail with extreme maneuverability and is designed for wave riding, bump and jump sailing Power is strong, with better pull out of low wind situations due to the increased shape below the boom and stiffer INSIGHT® panels. 

    Available in 3.2, 3.7, 4.2, 4.7, 5.0, 5.3, 5.8, 6.3 square meters.

    The Ultimate Hybrid Freewave Sail – 50% SuperFreak, 50% Modern Wave Sail

    The SuperFreak Maui Edition is our hybrid freewave sail. This sail is 50% SuperFreak and 50% INSIGHT® low stretch wave sail. We extended the use of INSIGHT® on this sail to both increase the visual benefits of more window material (see more!) and increase the direct feel of this sail. Though the sail is a SuperFreak at heart, it is much lighter than older ones and has a crisper, new feel. This is also the SuperFreak you want in near-freezing conditions when the strength of the SlamLam® window is unaffected by cold. The window will never get cloudy or scratch in hi wind sand blown conditions.

    Extreme Maneuverability for Wave, Bump & Jump, and Freestyle

    This sail is again a lighter sail with extreme maneuverability. It is designed for wave riding, bump and jump, or even for freestyle. Landing jumps like a back loop is easier with the looser leech. Power is strong, with better pull out of low wind situations due to the increased shape below the boom and stiffer INSIGHT® panels.

    Innovative 90% Batten Design

    The 2 battens directly above the boom are both 90% in length, stopping just short of the mast sleeve. This batten design provides a super controllable, luffable sail that can be powered or de-powered in an instant. We utilize our even lighter 0.7mm thickness lightweight ROX Webbing sleeve that is nearly indestructible and absorbs 80% less water than the original OX webbing.

    InSight Vision® is an exclusive Hot Sails Maui window material developed to address the long-term weaknesses of conventional monofilm, X-ply, PVC and TPU windows. It is designed to remain clear, strong and usable through ultraviolet exposure, repeated folding, windblown sand and normal sail or wing handling. It can be stitched into the surrounding structure and is intended to remain cleanable throughout the useful life of the product.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What information should I provide for a custom sail?

    Provide the sail model and size, the desired panel colors, logo artwork, preferred logo location, approximate logo size and any deadline that matters. Label every color clearly and distinguish similar shades. A simple marked-up sail image is often more useful than a long written description.

    Can I submit a rough sketch instead of professional artwork?

    Yes. Archived custom orders often began with a simple drawing or basic computer mockup. Use arrows and written color names so the designer can understand which instruction belongs to each panel. Clean vector artwork may still be required for a complex printed logo.

    Will I receive a proof before the custom sail is built?

    Hot Sails Maui custom correspondence commonly included a digital mockup for approval before construction. Review the model, size, panel colors, logo, orientation and proportions carefully. Production should begin only after the important details are confirmed.

    Can custom graphics change the sail's performance?

    Color changes normally do not alter performance when the same approved materials are used. Large appliques, unusual printed treatments or substitutions of panel material can change weight, stiffness or durability. Any construction change should be reviewed separately from the graphic design.
